History

Istituto Centrale delle Banche Popolari Italiane was born in 1939 at the initiative of six Banques Populaires - Cremona, Intra, Lecco, Lodi, Luino, Varese, Verona - as a body enhancement and coordination of the Banques Populaires. Over time the ownership has been extended to all Italian Popular Banks and today his company structure is also open to participation by other banks and insurance companies. In the ‘80s, through the support of Centralised Services Corporation subsidiary-Seceti, the Institute takes an active role in all events and transformative processes that lead to the creation of Setif (Interbank Funds Transfer Electronic Service) and SITRAD ( Interbank Transfer System Data) and consequently the birth of modern interbank payment systems. In this context, the Institute has been an essential reference for the care of the specific interests of banks and has carried out centralized transaction transited Accounting Regulation in Network category of Popular Banks.
